Showtime's Black Monday Comes Early

Showtime's Black Monday Comes Early

Showtime dropped the first episode of Black Monday for free on December 28 ahead of the January 20 premiere.

The network calls the 10-episode series, starring Don Cheadle, “the story of how a group of outsiders took on the blue-blood, old-boys club of Wall Street and ended up crashing the world’s largest financial system, a Lamborghini limousine and the glass ceiling."

Created by David Caspe and Jordan Cahan and set in late ‘80s New York City, Black Monday is built around the shenanigans of the infamous stock market crash in 1989 with its exuberant love of excess and sense of humor.

Critics say executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are "essentially hedging their bets that yet another series detailing the avarice of Wall Street will be of interest to viewers by turning the series into something of a gonzo, borderline slapstick comedy with a built-in real-life mystery at its center."

The cast also stars Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells, Paul Scheer with guest stars including Ken Marino, Kurt Braunohler, and Kadeem Hardison.

Black Monday officially premieres Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. ET.
