MPAC recently announced that singer-songwriter and the former half of soulful U.K. duo Floetry, Marsha Ambrosius, would be the guest speaker at its 2018 film festival taking place October 11-13 in Houston, Texas. The Mack Performing Arts Collective (MPAC) is a non-profit arts organization with the mission to cultivate the interest of performing arts by exposing, educating, and entertaining youth.

In collaboration with the University of Houston’s Center for Critical Race Studies, the festival is put on twice a year to foster valuable alliances and working relationships between independent artists and the film industry. The three-day event highlights independent films and projects, as well as host interactive forums for students, their peers, industry professionals, educators, and celebrities.

"The last event had over 800 attendees,” said Jalene Mack, founder of MPAC. “The festival is designed to make an economic impact on local business."

The MPAC Film Festival is free for registered high school students; and at a reduce cost to area university students.
